Richards blog entry

Yesterday we saw a man pretending to be a statue he was really funny.

My favourite food is baguettes and cheese, we usually get the baguettes from a boloungerie but sometimes we get them from supermarkets but the bread tastes better if it’s from a boloungerie. We saw the baguette yesterday being made. First they were tying knots in dough then they stopped it and we saw some men picking up Y shaped baguettes and putting them in the oven and then I spotted one pull out a weird machine and he started putting round dough like balls into it but then we had to go.

You get big Atlantic swell in this part of France, at Houat we got loads of big swell the swell made the boat rock vigorously. It’s fun for us when we are at the beach and it’s breaking on top of us especially if you’ve got a life jacket on ‘cause when the wave crashes on top of you then you’ll shoot up, better hold your breath because you’ll be going inside the wave.

Super sailing in St Quay

Sailing boats are taking part in some awesome racing today. There are eight boats representing different countries, some will be taking part in the 2012 Olympics. Each boat has a team of three ladies on.

Sometimes today they were a bit slow as there was not much wind, they put up their spinnakers to catch the most of the wind and it was really cool watching them go up particularly as they went round the buoys marking the race. They were tipping and tilting and I thought some would go off and crash into the scary rocks which were surrounded by the spooky mists.

We don’t know who won but we did know they all managed to finish the race safely. All the best to them for the Olympics!

St Quay Portrieux

At St Quay Portrieux after lunch we went to a beach it was the sandiesstist beach in the whole wide world and the weather was beautiful it was the sunniest day in the whole year so far.

When we were on the beach we built a castle, big dragon den and dragon whilst we were there we also played rugby and football it was really fun.

(The picture is of the beach in question but on a slightly gloomier day - it is still February after all. Mark.)

A note from Daddy

Richard was clipped onto the jackstay -  which is a safety line designed to keep you on the boat. The rule for the boys is that if the boat is not tied up then they are. They wear a lifejacket and safety line whenever they are on deck, and only go out dependant on the conditions and parental approval. He was sat down when we crossed the Queen Mary 2's wash, as were both other boys and although the boat did bounce up and down at a good angle and he could look down into the sea he was never in any danger of falling off.

It was quite exciting though.

From November 6th...

we used the engines to go down the Exe Estuary it was like a jigantonuoouummmuusss dot to dot because we had to follow the buoys.

That night we stayed at Torquay we luvyluvyluvyluuvyluuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuved it.

We woke up early to get going to Portland across  Lyme Bay and around Portland Bill. the trip around Portland race was ixxxxeriblaleauscious which means  really really really terrible in a really really really bad way because it was bumpier than a bumpy thing in bumpyland in a bumpy car on a bumpy road reading 6 newspapers at once.

The Quarries are still active quarrying up there we can still see the old tracks they used to get Portland stone from the top of the hill to the bottom, then onto the mighty ships to everywhere even America and New Zealand.

We loved the 5th of November, we went to Weymouth for bonfire night, it was really really really exciting.

REMEMBER REMEMBER THE 5TH OF NOVEMBER GUNPOWDER TREASON AND PLOT THERE IS NO REASON WHY GUNPOWDER TREASON SHOULD EVER BE FORGOT.....

From Cowes to Haslar 24.11.11

I was sitting on the front deck of the boat then suddenly Queen Mary II'S Pilot boat came up really really really  f a s t  with his Big sea blue lights flashing all over the place, he said please can you bear away to  starboard and one minute later Queen mary II came along she made such A really Big disturbance that I nearly        off the front of the boat.
